Everest winner Savita lost her life in an avalanche
Everest woman Savita Kanswal (26) died in an avalanche while climbing a dangerous peak in Uttarakhand, India. Indian authorities announced his death on Wednesday (October 5). News from Deutsche Welle
In May this year, Savita climbed Everest and Makalur within 15 days. He climbed Everest in just 16 days. He then joined the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering as an instructor.
In September, he was climbing Draupadi Ka Danda 2, a mountain in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, along with trainees and other instructors. There were a total of 41 members in the mountaineering team. The height of this peak is 5,670 meters. However, the way up to this peak is known to be dangerous.
Savita's team climbed to the top of Draupadi Ka Danda 2. They camped near the Dokrani glacier. There suddenly came down a huge amount of snow. The camp of Savitas was crushed by that. The life of this mountaineer stopped at the age of 26.
There were 9 trainers including Savita in the camp. Mountaineers were with him. Many of them are still missing. A total of four bodies, including Savita, were recovered by the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan border guards. 12 people were rescued alive. The search for the rest is underway.
Usually there is no avalanche in that area. But a total of four avalanches have occurred in Kedarnath region since September 22.
